They recommend tricount:

FORBES:
"With tricount, you can create a group expense report on your phone. It tracks spending by person, and then splits up how much each individual owes or is owed from the total balance. When you’re ready to share the final breakdown, the app sends each person a link to tricount’s site to review the data."

BUSINESS INSIDER:
"Next time you organize a group activity, tricount will split up the expenses for you".

How it works:
• Create a tricount – for your trip, household, or event.
• Invite your group – share the link with friends.
• Add expenses – split as you go, however you like.
• Settle up – everyone knows what they owe.

Say goodbye to awkward IOUs: better than spreadsheets—and easier than Splitwise. From London to Liverpool, city breaks to ski trips, tricount is the smarter, simpler way to manage shared expenses in the UK.

I used to love this app, I was paying for the premium subscriptions for 3 years before they removed it. Now since the bigger update last year, it's a disaster. I get a notification of some expenses added and I need to open and close Tricount 2 or 3 times to actually see the update. I know it happens the same to my friends with different Android and iOS devices. For me it is unusable now.

pretty bad, honestly. it works, but barely. we use it because it doesn't have the 3 lines per person per day limit of Splitwise. every time we open the app, we see the old balance. not updating in the background if people have added stuff days ago without you checking. then I pull down to refresh, and the balance seems entirely gone. no purchases showing, all settled up! after a second refresh, THEN the whole thing is loaded in again. really, at that point it's minutes too late. fix it!

Tricount is a fairly good app, but there are issues with it syncing up. Often, a new expense won't show up for awhile, or I need to add it again, or the entire tricount will show as empty/no history until it eventually syncs up again. However, I'll be sticking to Tricount as it's free and I can split bills in equally/parts/amount which is what I need in terms of functionality.
